Erasmus+ Turns 40: Alumni Across Europe Invited to Shape the Future of the EU’s Flagship Programme – Apply Now

Applications are open until 10 May 2026 for Erasmus alumni across Europe to take part in a unique initiative marking the 40th anniversary of Erasmus+ (apply now).

In 2027, the Erasmus+ programme will celebrate its 40th anniversary. What began in 1987 with just 3,200 students has, over four decades, grown into one of the European Union’s most successful initiatives, engaging more than 15 million participants. It is a remarkable milestone that has played a fundamental role in building a stronger and more united Europe.

Now, former Erasmus students are being called to take part in the celebrations—not just by looking back, but by turning their experience into action.

To mark this important anniversary, the garagErasmus Foundation, in collaboration with the Italian Erasmus+ National Agency INDIRE, has launched a new initiative: “Erasmus+ Alumni in Action.” The project is open to Erasmus alumni from across Europe and aims to actively involve them in shaping the programme’s future.

Twenty Erasmus Ambassadors will be selected to participate in a three-day working meeting in Naples, from 10 to 12 June 2026. During the event, participants will collaborate to design and develop a project dedicated to the 40th anniversary of Erasmus+. The selected project will be supported by a dedicated budget and implemented throughout 2026–2027.

This represents a unique opportunity for Erasmus alumni to reconnect, collaborate, and contribute to the legacy of a programme that has defined generations of Europeans.

How to Apply

Applicants can submit their application by 10 May 2026 via the following link:
https://forms.gle/7SwjV5Gi4U9KmhEc8

In the case of equally ranked applications, priority will be given to those submitted earlier. Candidates are therefore strongly encouraged to apply well before the deadline.
